About Us

Julie Bonney, Executive Director

Julie Bonney began working for AGDB with Chris Blackburn in 1991 before taking over the business and the Executive Director role in 2001. She holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from Drexel University and has dedicated her career and life to advocating for fishermen and processors, while sticking to the data and science. Julie is known for taking a vision, defining the objective, and figuring out the path forward to accomplish a goal, with the big picture always focused on working together for healthy harvesters, processors, and community. Julie has been involved in numerous Kodiak-based cooperative research and EFP projects, and currently sits on the Marine Resource Education Program (MREP) North Pacific Steering Committee. She is also past President of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce.

Chelsae Radell, Assistant Director

Chelsae Radell moved to Kodiak and joined AGDB in January 2022. She holds a BSc in Conservation Biology from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and the multidisciplinary intersection of science, policy, and natural resources management has been a common thread in her work. In 2017, after coming to Alaska as a fisheries observer on a whim, she saw first hand the commitment to science and sustainability by Alaska’s fishing industry as they work hard to feed the world.  After accumulating over 500 days as an observer on catcher vessels, catcher processors, mothership, and shoreside processors in the North Pacific and on the West Coast, she transitioned back to land as an EM Data Reviewer and coordinator before joining AGDB. Chelsae is the shoreside CGOA Rockfish Program Intercooperative Manager and the manager for all five cooperatives. She also currently serves on the NPFMC’s Advisory Panel, Fisheries Monitoring Advisory Committee (FMAC) and the Partial Coverage Fisheries Monitoring Advisory Committee (PCFMAC). She previously served on the State of Alaska’s Bycatch Utilization subcommittee.
